Benefits From Cinnamon and Honey

These two super-foods create such a powerful effect on the body. They have the ability to control inflammation, combat free radicals and boost the immune system. 

Lets take a look at honey:
The vitamins present in honey are B6, thiamin, niacin, riboflavin, pantothenic acid and certain amino acids. The minerals found in honey include calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and zinc. I learnt that "conductivity" is an indirect way of measuring the mineral content of a honey. Manuka honey has a higher than normal conductivity -- about 4 times that of normal flower honeys. The higher the conductivity, the better the value of the honey. Also, this natural sweetener has antioxidants and is free of fat and cholesterol. 

Honey has a healthy Glycemic Index (GI), meaning that its sugars can be gradually absorbed into the bloodstream to result in better digestion. 

Manuka honey can help cure gingivitis and periodontal disease.

Honey contains natural minerals and vitamins, which help to metabolize cholesterol and fatty acid on the organs and tissues into the system.

Lets take a look at cinnamon:

Cinnamon is a spice that is made from the inner bark of trees called Cinnamomum. There are two main types of cinnamon: Ceylon cinnamon; Known as "true" cinnamon and Cassia cinnamon; This is the more common and cheap variety today.

Cinnamon is high in a substance with powerful medicinal properties.

Cinnamon is one of the most delicious and healthiest spices on the planet.

It can lower blood sugar levels, reduce heart disease risk factors, reduces LDL cholesterol, it has natural anti-infectious compounds, reduces pain, may reduce cancer cells, contains fiber, calcium, iron, and manganese and reduces chronic inflammation linked with these neurological disorders.

Weekly World News, issue dated January 17, 1995 has given the following list of diseases that can be cured by honey and cinnamon as researched by western scientists:

Heart diseases: Reduces the cholesterol in the arteries, relieves loss of breath and strengthens the heartbeat and revitalizes the arteries and veins.

Arthritis: Arthritis patients who were treated with this mixture morning and night, within one week, out of 200 people, 73 patients were totally relieved of pain and within a month, most all patients who could not walk started walking without pain.

Bladder infections: By taking two tablespoons of cinnamon and one teaspoon of honey in a glass of lukewarm water will destroy the germs in the bladder.

Cholesterol: Two tablespoons of honey and three teaspoons of cinnamon mixed in 16 ounces of tea water, was found to reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood by 10 percent within two hours.

Colds: Those suffering from common or severe colds should take one tablespoon lukewarm honey with 1/4 spoon cinnamon daily for three days. 

Upset stomach: Honey taken with cinnamon powder cures stomachache and also clears stomach ulcers from the root.

Gas: According to studies done is India and Japan, honey is taken with cinnamon relieves gas.

Immune system: Daily use of honey and cinnamon strengthens the immune system and protects the body from bacteria and viral attacks. 

Influenza: A scientist in Spain has proved that honey contains a natural ingredient, which kills influenza germs.

Longevity: Tea made with honey and cinnamon, when taken regularly, arrests the ravages of old age. 

Pimples: Three tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon paste - Apply this paste on the pimples before sleeping and wash off in the morning with warm water.

Skin infections: Applying equal parts of cinnamon and honey on the affected parts can cure eczema, ringworm and other skin infections.


Weight loss: Daily in the morning one half hour before breakfast on an empty stomach and at night before sleeping, if taken regularly, will reduce one's weight. One cup of hot water, one-tablespoon honey, one-teaspoon cinnamon.

Cancer: Recent research in Japan and Australia revealed that advanced cancer of the stomach and bones have been cured successfully. One-tablespoon honey, one teaspoon cinnamon for one month three times a day.

Fatigue: Those who take equal parts of honey and cinnamon are more alert and flexible. Half-tablespoon of honey in warm water with quarter teaspoon of cinnamon, taken in the morning and again in the afternoon around 2-3 PM. 

Bad breath: Gargle with one teaspoon of honey and cinnamon mixed in hot water.
